Betamethasone Valerate With Neomycin Cream (0.1% + 0.5%) Contains The Active Ingredient Betamethasone Valerate, Which Is An Anti-Inflammatory Steroid, And Neomycin Sulphate, Which Treats Most Common Bacterial Infections Of The Skin. It Is Not Active Against Fungal Skin Infections. Betamethasone Is Classed As A Potent Steroid, And Used For The Treatment Of Skin Conditions (For Example, Eczema, Dermatitis And Psoriasis). This Cream, Also Containing Neomycin, Is Used In Those Cases Where A Steroid Cream Would Be Helpful But Where The Skin Is Infected As Well, Or Is Likely To Become Infected. It Will Never Be Prescribed For Areas Of Skin That Are Infected But Do Not Have An Element Of Dermatitis Too (In Simple Cases Of Thrush, Nappy Rash Or Impetigo For Instance).
